Jan Buechsenstein

Jan is a German lawyer with expertise in business law, M&A, banking and finance, asset management and litigation.

After being admitted to the bar, Jan worked for a German law firm and gained extensive experience in commercial law through various activities, including the execution of numerous M&A and private equity transactions with a specific focus on regulated industries and acquisition financing.

His professional career has taken him to prominent positions, including legal counsel and general counsel at a global bank, where he dealt with the complexities of asset management and banking regulation, particularly in the area of ​​alternative investments. Jan was significantly involved in the implementation of investment restructuring after the financial crisis and drove business expansion into new markets. In another role, he was responsible for regulatory relations and coordinated various regulatory investigations and litigation.

Jans also served as general counsel, head of compliance and risk at one of Europe's leading fintech companies, known for its open banking platform for investment products. In this role, Jan focused on ensuring regulatory compliance amid strong business growth, monitoring litigation, establishing diverse investment platforms, and facilitating various forms of investor financing.

Jan also advised private clients and family offices on acquisitions and setting up investment structures.

Jan holds a law degree from the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, Germany, supplemented by an LL.M. from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia, and an MBA from the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland.
